The 13th Annual Columbia Lodge #25 AF&AM
Scholarship Fund Wine Tasting
Every spring Columbia Lodge bestows upon one or more worthy Glastonbury high school students $1,793 dollars for upcoming college expenses. Columbia #25 was chartered in 1793 and this scholarship is a symbol of our two hundred plus years of active service in the town and greater community. All the proceeds from this annual event go to this scholarship fund and future scholars. We sincerely appreciate the community's outpouring of support for this event and are grateful you can join us for a unique night of unusually great wine and delicious food and spirits.
The key to the evening is our wines. Over the past decade our brothers' relationships with the wine purveyors has yielded us an abundance of valuable bottles. Our wine partners have come to look forward to this event as much as we do. The guests who traditionally join us appreciate the tremendous values available at each event. We feature wines from the four corners of the globe, with a particular emphasis on small wineries, small batches, hidden gems and out of the ordinary vintages.
The wine suppliers pull out all the stops to feature some of their personal favorites and love to tell the story and history of each wine. All of the wines featured this evening will also be available for pre-ordering at very significant savings for this night only. Columbia Lodge also receives the proceeds from every bottle sold, through our partnership with Brother Craig Witzke of South Side Wine and Liquors in South Glastonbury.
If there ever was an event where you travel the world in a glass and stock up your cellar without breaking the bank, this is a wine lover's dream. But that is not all. In the Secret Cellar of the Columbia Lodge there is also the Spirits Tasting! Whiskey, scotch, rum, rye, and who knows what other distilled delights will be available for this event! There is guaranteed to be something you've never tasted before!
Once the wine starts flowing and the liquor is pouring we are going to need some food! That is where October Kitchen steps in with a gourmet assortment of appetizers, hors d'ouvres, cheeses, nibbles and sweets! Brother and Chef Paul Finney is creating another great menu for this year's event and shall post it promptly.
Every year we also feature a silent auction of lovely items donated by our community sponsors. Many local businesses and craftsmen and artists help with this charity fundraiser by creating gift baskets, door prizes and one of a kind prize packages.
